Visit at Great Compassion Boarding School in Pokhara

In July, our longtime sponsor and friend Georges Raemy travelled to Pokahra and visited Great Compassion Boarding School, our hostel and the SOS school. As headmaster, he know what's important when it comes to eductation and we are proud to say that his report is very positive.

Tip: Tent-Trekking in small groups

A journey to Mustang represents something very special and is rather straightforward if done by a professional tour operator. Our longtime sponsor Martin Kohler is a certified hiking guide and will lead this unique trekking in September and October 2017. New foundation structure

With the growth of the foundation over the last seven years, the administrative management has become rather time-consuming for the members of the board. In order to being able to fulfill the boards own responsibilities, it was decided to hire a managing director. Bettina Wälti will take over this multifaceted position as a part-time assignment with immediate effect. The salary is financed by private funds.

Official opening of the GCBS hostel

On February 2nd, the newly built GCBS hostel was ceremonially inaugurated by HH Sakya Trinzin. It was a memorable celebration with a traditional inaugural ceremony, but also with dances, home-made food and many smiling faces.

Expansion Board of the Foundation

We are very happy to welcome Karin Amrhein as fourth member of the board of the foundation. Karin Amrhein is a primary school teacher and regularly visits GCBS in Nepal. It is through her visits, that she has gained a profound inside view of the school operation and knows the teachers and the students very well.

A report on GCBS Lo Manthang Building Construction

After three months of construction, the new school building, which contains a cultural hall and dormitory, are completed and ready for the pupils, teachers and house staff to move in. The traditional architecture has been carefully preserved, while the structure has been improved by the use of iron and concrete.

Call for donations «Orphans»

GCBS has launched a program to educate orphans who have lost their fortune of having parents due to earthquake. GCBS will offer for 20 such primary children from their current grades up to bachelor level education in free of cost associating them together in its hostel.
