Barbara Ouanella, Foundation Board | Projects

The first time I discovered the fascinating culture and its people on my journey through Tibet and Nepal in autumn 1986. In the next few years I spent much time in the Sahara and the Arabic regions. But my longing for the Himalayas were always present. Meeting Lama Ngawang again 10 years ago brought back memories of the sparse high-plateaus, joyous people and their Buddhist way of life.

For five days I was able to watch the genesis of a Sandmandala created by Lama Ngawang during my work in a bookstore where I could also witness the hand-over ceremony to the river. His charisma and his dedication for his school in Lo-Manthang fascinated me and I decided to engage myself in a sponsorship of a child in his school. Now that I met him a third time, I decided to intensify my engagement. I'm very pleased to support him and his school with my engagement in the foundation Himalaya's Children. And I dream of a journey to Mustang!
