Karin Amrhein, Foundation Board | Volunteers

Nepal and the Himalayas have always caused an immense fascination for me. This attraction grew even bigger when I was studying at the University of teacher education and was given the chance to travel to Nepal in 2011 to fulfill a project assignment at Great Compassion Boarding School.

In summer of 2012 I travelled to Mustang to visit summer school in Lo-Manthang and to see the place the children call home. Also, I was able to visit the family of my sponsored child. My journey was very emotional and impressive, I was touched deeply by the beauty of Mustang, the warmth of the local people and how engrained their culture and traditions are.

Ever since my first visit, the children at GCBS lie deep in my heart and I am very impressed by the great commitment of Lama Ngawang. I am thankful for being able to support Lama Ngawang and the students at Great Compassion Boarding School with my engagement at Himalaya's Children Foundation.
